BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-A Birmingham nonprofit that focuses on helping young men make wise decisions is hosting two free community events this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17-18, at the Five Points West Regional Branch Library.

On Friday, Nov. 17, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., The Man Project is hosting a voter registration drive and providing free ID cards at the Five Points West Library, 4812 Ave. W, Birmingham, AL 35208.

At 1 p.m. on Saturday,  Nov. 18, at Five Points West Library, The Man Project is hosting “Imprisoned To Empowered: An initiative for Felons & Those Having a Hard Time.”

According to The Man Project, Friday’s voter registration drive is designed the male mentor organization’s way to help the residents of the Birmingham metro community use the voting process to have their voices heard.   

The Imprisoned to Empowered program taking place at 1 p.m. Saturday aims to help boys and young men recover from bad decisions. A group of civil rights leaders partnering with The Man Project will provide an in-depth job readiness seminar, teaching interviewing skills, resume writing and what to do when searching for a job.

About the Man Project: An all-male mentor’empowerment program in Birmingham designed to help young men strengthen relationships with families and learn to fulfill positive roles in the community.
