Town Hall Meetings @ Your Library hosted by the Birmingham Public Library
October 2, 2008, Birmingham, AL—The Birmingham Public Library would like to invite residents of Birmingham to participate in the upcoming "Town Hall Meetings @ Your Library." The Library is seeking input from the community to help plan for the collections and related services in each location. Citizens of Birmingham are encouraged to share their ideas with the library and to explore the connections between quality public libraries and improved community life.
The Birmingham Public Library is updating its collection management policy. A collection management policy is a tool that guides the planning, selection, maintenance, and distribution of library materials. This policy always includes a community analysis.
BPL believes that input from the community will help the library plan its collection development policy. The library would like to initiate a community conversation and dialogue at the “Town Hall Meetings @ Your Library.”
These meetings will be held from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Central location and all four regional libraries. The schedule is as follows:
• Tuesday, October 7 Central Library
• Monday, October 13 Five Points West
• Tuesday, October 14 Avondale
• Monday, October 20 North Birmingham
• Tuesday, October 21 Springville Road
In addition to the meetings, adults and children may fill out written surveys at each Birmingham Public Library location. They may also complete the survey online at the library website, www.bplonline.org.
If you have any questions or comments, please visit www.bplonline.org or call your local Birmingham Library.
